Wynton Marsalis World Premier

The ASO has commissioned legendary jazz artist Wynton Marsalis to compose his first orchestral piece, as a fellow in the Atlanta School of Composers. At the request of Mr. Marsalis, ASO Music Director Robert Spano will serve as Mr. Marsalis' personal composition mentor, and will lead the ASO in the world premier performance during the NBAF's 20th Anniversary season The ASO plans to record Mr. Marsalis' piece with Telarc records. To complement the appearance and activities of Wynton Marsalis, the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra will travel to Atlanta for their own performance and educational activities during the summer of 2008. discussions. The Dialogue will engage multi-generations across the Atlanta Community by immersing individuals and communities into its programs.
